Walgreens will be the first retailer to bring its loyalty program integration to Apple Pay. With this, you'll be able to use your account through Apple Pay, so you can earn and redeem your points without having to launch another app. The company has more than 85 million active Balance Rewards members who will now be able to take advantage of the new features from their compatible iPhone.
Sona Chawla, president of digital and chief marketing officer for Walgreens stated:
"We're excited to be the first to provide our customers with increased ease of access to their Balance Rewards account and information when using Apple Pay. This offering supports our commitment to removing friction and enabling a simple and convenient customer experience."
All you'll need to do is set up your Balance Rewards card in Apple Pay, and when you are at a Walgreens location just hold your iPhone near the reader, and the information will be sent. It's great to see Apple Pay integrations continuing to expand, and we hope that more companies follow in the same footsteps.
