Apple Watch and iPhone-toting caffeine fanatics, you'll soon have something to celebrate. Apple Pay will be coming to Starbucks throughout 2016, allowing users to use the tap and pay system at all 7,500 Starbucks locations across the country.
The news was broken by Jennifer Bailey, the head of Apple Pay, at Re/Code's Code/Mobile conference. According to Re/Code some Starbucks-goers will even get the chance to use Apple Pay at the coffee shop ahead of time with a pilot program:
Starting next year you can tap and pay with your iPhone or Apple Watch at all Starbucks registers across the country. Some locations will be testing the technology this year in a pilot.
The Starbucks app itself already supports Apple Pay for refilling your Starbucks card, but this latest move will usher in tap-and-pay terminals at all locations in 2016. The addition of Starbucks also brings another major name on board in a steady expansion that has seen more and more stores added over the course of the last year.
Update: It looks like KFC and Chili's are on the menu, with both set to get Apple Pay support in-store in Spring 2016. Additionally, Delta's Fly Delta app is set to receive an update today with the ability to book flights with Apple Pay right in the app.
